Our impact & aims

Changing the trajectory of young people's lives.

RootedMinds is about more than wellbeing sessions — it is about changing the trajectory of young people's lives. By supporting identity and mental health early, we help prevent the wider harms that can grow from unmet emotional needs.

What we aim to prevent

When young people feel lost, unseen or unsupported in their identity and mental health, they can become vulnerable to serious harm. Early, culturally-relevant support helps protect against:

01

County lines exploitation and criminal grooming

Young people who feel they belong and are valued are far less vulnerable to those who seek to exploit them

02

School exclusion and disengagement

Supporting wellbeing and identity helps young people stay engaged with education

03

Deteriorating mental health

Early, preventative support reduces the risk of crisis later

04

Social isolation and low self-worth

Building connection, belonging and confidence

05

Involvement in violence or anti-social behaviour

Offering positive identity, purpose and belonging as protective factors

Our long-term vision

01To make culturally-specific wellbeing support accessible to diaspora young people across the UK
02To train and license practitioners so the programme can reach many more young people
03To work in partnership with schools, local authorities and community organisations
04To build an evidence base showing the difference early, culturally-relevant support makes
